Hvis du synes en miks bestånde av de ekstreme elementene til Mr. Bungle, synkoperingen til Meshuggah og hardcoreelementet til The Dillinger Escape Plan høres ut som en god idé så kommer du til å rådigge Car Bomb. De har inkorporert ulyder, gitarslides, disharmoni og feedback i riffene sin, noe som gjør at de får et kaotisk og delvis mekanisk lydbilde. Sjøl om rytmesansen deres er avansert og noget sær så er fortsatt trøkket og drivet ivaretatt, så det er fullt mulig å headbange til musikken for dem som måtte ønske det. Det er få pustepauser i løpet av de 32 minuttene som ”Centralia” varer. De bombarderer deg kontinuerlig og du må være 100 prosent fokusert så lenge angrepet varer. Den først sjansen til virkelig å slappe av og absorbere inntrykkene skjer etter at plata er ferdigspilt. Som det står beskrevet på hjemmesiden deres; ” Their intent is to assault the listener in any and every way possible…” og det har de virkelig klart med bravur. Så får du bestemme for deg sjøl om du syns det er en god ting eller ei, jeg går på med krum rygg!

If you think mixing the extreme parts of Mr. Bungle with the syncopation of Meshuggah and the hard core element of The Dillinger Escape Plan sounds like a good idea, then Car Bomb is right up your alley. They’ve incorporated fret-noises, squeaks, guitar slides, feedback and harmonics as part of their riffs, giving them a chaotic and partly mechanical sound. Although their sense of rhythm is advanced and quite quirky, the groove is still apparent and it would be possible to bang your head along with the music if you wanted to. There are very few chances to breath in the 32 minutes that “Centralia” lasts. You’re under fire non-stop and got to stay focused 100 percent during the attack. The first chance to really relax and absorb what just happened, appears after the record’s finished. But as it’s described on Car Bomb’s website; “Their intent is to assault the listener in any and every way possible…” and they’ve accomplished that rather well. So you have to decide for yourself if that’s a good thing or not, personally I’m up for it!
